A Girl’s Best Friend

Where would a girl be without her best friend? The Rachel to my Monica, the Meredith to my Cristina, the Wayne to my Garth, the Bert to my Ernie. Amy Stather has been their for me through think and thin, like all best friends should. But we weren’t always this close.

No, we actually used to hate each other. Scratch that, I used to hate her. But in all fairness, I was just jealous. In Grade Nine math class, I met Amy. She was out going, fun, pretty and flirty. She was everything I wanted to be and that meant direct competition in those days. I loathed her for being all I tried to be in a time when being a certain type of person meant so much to fit in.

I’m not sure when I decided to grow up and stop being so jealous, but when I finally did, it was definitely for the better. Amy is one of the best friends a girl could possibly have. She listens, she talks (a lot), she laughs at my stupid jokes, she lets me vent and vents in return. We gossip, have fun and can be ourselves around each other. Sometimes, people even think we are dating. We ARE NOT dating people, let us just be friends!

She got me through the last couple years of high school when cliques seemed to be all that mattered, she helped me plan prom, threw the best prom party to date and still kept in touch when she went away to school. During my placement, she accompanied me on countless promotional distribution runs to The County and never once complained. She really is one of a kind.

Check out who Amy really is…

Best Friend

Milking cows and slaying at Rugby games (sure it doesn’t pay, but Rugby is definitely a full time job for this champ)

Favourite Activity to do Together:
Dress up, go out and drink wine… Relax, hang out and drink wine… Sit in the hot tub, talk and drink wine… Okay, we just like wine alright?

Best Memory:
Going to Little Texas in Belleville for our first night out as nineteen year olds and ending up getting so messy that we haven’t gone back

All I can say is that I am so glad I decided to grow up and stop letting my jealousy get in the way of the best friendship I could ever find. She is my twin in more ways than one, she shares my thoughts on countless topics and likes to do all the same things I do (re: drink wine). She may not be immediate family but she might as well be with how close she is to my own family, so how could she not be next in line in my team of supporters?

Until next time,

Tiffany Nobes
